Importing bookmarks
Move your existing bookmarks into Faved from other tools.
Switching to Faved doesn't mean leaving your existing bookmarks behind. You can import directly from your browser, from Raindrop.io, and from Pocket, keeping your tags and folder structure intact.
TIP
After any import, bulk actions make it easy to reorganize tags or refetch metadata across all the newly imported bookmarks at once.
Import from your browser
You can import bookmarks directly from your browser in just a few clicks. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and most other browsers are supported.
The import fully preserves your browser's bookmark folder structure by converting folders into tags, which you can then reorganize however you prefer using nested tags.
Export your bookmarks from your browser
Most browsers let you export bookmarks as an HTML file from their bookmark manager.
Open the browser import page in Faved
Navigate to Settings → Import → From Browser
Choose your file and start the import
Select your exported HTML file and start the import.
The import usually takes a few seconds, and your folder structure will be converted into hierarchical tags automatically.
Once complete, you'll see a confirmation message displaying the total number of bookmarks that were imported.
Import from Raindrop.io
If you're switching from Raindrop.io, you can import your bookmarks along with their tags, so your existing structure stays intact and ready to use right away.
Export your collection from Raindrop.io
In Raindrop.io, use the export option to download your collection.
Open the Raindrop.io import page in Faved
Navigate to Settings → Import → From Raindrop.io
Select your export file and start the import
Choose your export file and start the import.
The import usually takes a few seconds, and your collection will be converted into hierarchical tags automatically. Raindrop.io tags will also be preserved.
Once complete, you'll see a confirmation message displaying the total number of bookmarks that were imported.
Import from Pocket
Faved imports a Pocket export, bringing across your saved and archived articles, tags, collections, and notes.
Export your data from Pocket
TIP
Pocket sometimes omits article excerpts and titles for articles that aren't attached to a collection. If you can, add your saved articles to a collection before exporting to improve the quantity and quality of the data Pocket includes.
- Go to the Pocket export page at https://getpocket.com/export and sign in if needed.
- Click Export CSV file to start the export. Pocket prepares the file and emails you a download link when it's ready.
- Open the email titled Update on your Pocket data export, follow the link, and download your export. It's a ZIP file containing your saved and archived links, tags, collections, and notes.
Open the Pocket import page in Faved
Navigate to Settings → Import → From Pocket
Select your export file and start the import
Choose the ZIP file you downloaded from Pocket and start the import. You don't need to unzip it, Faved handles that for you.
The import usually takes just a few seconds depending on the size of your export. Once complete, you'll see a confirmation message displaying the total number of bookmarks that were imported.
Here's what you'll get after the import:
- All imported bookmarks receive an Imported from Pocket tag.
- Unread and Archived bookmarks are assigned corresponding tags under a Status parent tag.
- Collections are imported as tags under a Collections parent tag.
- Collection descriptions are preserved as tag descriptions.
- Bookmark notes are saved as bookmark comments.
